Between our four main titles, we probably have a few thousand pieces of unique art, hand-drawn by our two-person digital art team. Outside of its appearance in the games, the art gets limited exposure which is kind of a shame considering the time and effort our art team puts into their work. To rectify that, we’re bringing you Kano/Apps Art Attack, a showcase of the art that goes into our games.

In this on-going series of blog posts our artists, Jose Brand and Amaris Fisher, will be calling out selected pieces of the work, ranging from equipable items to boss and location art. This time around, they’ve each selected four in-game items from across the different games and have provided a short explanation of why they picked that particular piece of work. Hit the jump to see it all!

Jose’s Picks

Skull Gauntlets - This is an older image I drew in 2010. This item is from one of my favorite sets.

Cursed Bucaneer - This is another one from 2010. I really wanted the character to look like he was coming at viewer.

Amaris’ Picks

Master Swordsman - Whenever I'm creating a person, I like detailing the face the first. Mainly because it gets his or her personality, which in turn reflects on the rest of the posture.

Mjölnir - I wanted to try out a different style of metal here.

Silenced Horn - I live on a farm with sheep, and I quite like them! So I wanted to do an item with a sheep screaming, because that is what they like to do.
